Have you seen the much-publicized Valentine's Day promotion put on byWhite Castle, the (very) casual hamburger diner known for their "sliders"?
The promotion was titled"Hot & Steamy"... and the demographics were going after young couples wanting to celebrate the romantic holiday, but also desiring to stay within their financial budget.White Castlepromised a romantic atmosphere with your burgers and fries. Was that possible, I wondered? Growing up in the north of the US, I'm familiar with the bargain-burger chain and have been inside to order my share of burgers & fries. |

If you're looking for a romantic (and fun) night out, AMC Dine-In Theatresis your best choice! To start the night off right, grab a fancy martini at MacGuffins... I had a sexy cosmopolitan (a la Carrie from "Sex and the City"), and my sister took a caloric splurge and ordered an Oreo cookie cocktail. The drinks were so yummy, we each ordered a second cocktail, and carried it in the movie theatre to watch "Tron: Legacy". I was invited to this special "media night" at |

Here's my favorite"Wine of the Week": Tango Real’s Sauvignon Blanc -Last week, Juan Pombo (the owner ofTango Real, the U.S. operation forGoyenechea Winery and Vineyards, founded in 1868 in Mendoza, Argentina) and I met up at Vino! on Park Avenue on Winter Park. As I’m a “Winter Parker”, it’s always a pleasure to meet friends at one of the fine restaurants and wine shops along “The Avenue”. We met so I could sampleTango Real’s Sauvignon Blanc. The owner, Rhonda, was a very nice woman, and chatting with her, I learned that her husband is the chef at Isleworth Country Club, and he has recently won a very prestigious award. |

Here's my favorite "Wine of the Week": Tango Real’s Cabernet Sauvignon -For my birthday, I received a beautiful copy of Good Housekeeping’s “Wine Book” bywitty authorJonathan Pedley. I now keep the book on my coffee table to create conversation when guestsare visiting my home. The book begins with the practicalities of enjoying wine (buying, storing, serving, drinking, choosing complementary foods). Then the book discusses fascinating detail the business of growing grapes and making wine. |

Here's my favorite "Wine of the Week":There's excitement about a fabulous MALBEC wine on the market byTango Realwines! I had the opportunity to meet with Juan Pombo, the owner ofTangoReal, the U.S. operation forGoyenechea Winery andVineyards, founded in 1868 in Mendoza, Argentina. We had a lovely time talking about his wines, and I had the pleasure to sample the Malbec atCork& Olive in Lake Mary. This is 100% Malbec grapesfrom the growers' own vineyards in the small village of Villa Atuel towards the Southern portion of the Province of San Rafael, just about 50 km east of the massive ridge of the Andes where the snow-capped mountains provide most of thewater for the region. |

Remember the old black and white “I Love Lucy ” TV episode where Lucy and Ethel worked in the candy factory?... They get into some trouble with their boss because they wereeatingthe candies on the conveyor belt, instead of packaging them! Well, chocolate is always romantic, but even more romantic when shared with the one you love.Farris & Foster's Chocolate Factory has a conveyor belt, just like the one in the “I Love Lucy” TV episode. How much fun is that?! You(and your loved one) become the "chocolatiers" at their fun candy shop in Baldwin Park, and browse all the handmade chocolate gifts, too! |
