Dear Michelle Valentine,

I am a 25 year old lady going out with this 32 year old guy.

We have been going out for about four months now, but I am just not happy with the way things are.

He is not sensitive to my needs, he is not as affectionate as I am. He thinks everything should go his way.

He recently made fun of a situation in which I was sick and wasn’t in touch with him for a few days. Well, he said that might have been a joke!

I mean, how can one be so insensitive?

I feel like I cannot be myself around him and have to put on another persona. From the look of things, I don’t think this relationship is going to last that long, is it?

I wrote a letter to him and explained what I felt. The thing is we both have so much pride and I guess we do not want to come out looking desperate.

I need help. I need your advice. Thanks.

Affectionate Girl

Dear Affectionate,

Yes, from the look of things – in your eyes as well as mine – this “relationship” is not going to last that long. If the man you have been going out with is insensitive to your feelings by laughing at you and making you feel uncomfortable, why would you want him, anyway?

There is a tremendous amount of men out there just looking for a relationship with a warm and compassionate person as yourself.

It is obvious the man you are with is not capable of being in an adult relationship.
