In 1958, Shiraishi Yoshiaki opened the first conveyor belt sushi restaurant after seeing conveyor belts being used in the production of beer.

How It Works:

A conveyor belt restaurant works by sushi or any food rotating through the restaurant, the plates move past every table so anyone can pick up what they like.
