At the World Bog Snorkelling Championship competitors in Llanwrtyd Wells, United Kingdom must don a snorkel and flippers then attempt to swim through the peat bog for 60 yards and back again – which doesn’t sound far but the conditions are atrocious and cold. The winner is the person who completes in the fastest time. In spite of the difficulties or perhaps because of the extreme nature of the challenge there are usually well over 100 contestants and many spectators.
