This Saturday, February 22, is National Margarita Day! It’s a great excuse to throw a party to pay homage to our favorite celebratory cocktail, the margarita!
The margarita — triple sec, tequila, and lime juice — was created in 1938 in Mexico and is widely considered the official drink of having fun.
So have fun this Saturday:
Have a big house party! I sure am!
I’ve invited a handful of friends and family over to my home for margaritas. To add to the fun, I’m having a full taco bar buffet, too! Cooking up beef & turkey taco meat, a hundred taco shells, tons of guacamole, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, shredded lettuce, and hot jalapenos! YUMMY!
My parents gave us a Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville machine as a wedding gift, and it makes super-delicious margaritas! My hubby is going to be the “official bartender” of the evening.
If you don’t want to throw a house party, just invite a friend (or two) over to enjoy the day! Put on some mariachi music to set the mood. Be sure to ask them to bring a single friend!
Plus, “National Margarita Day” is a great excuse to ask someone you’ve had your eye on for a date! Tell them you don’t want to drink a margarita alone. How fun!
Looking for a date?
Go out to a local restaurant or bar that is celebrating “National Margarita Day” and keep a lookout for someone interesting. Invite them to cheer your margarita glass, and hopefully exchange phone numbers later!
Here are some of my favorite margarita photos, as posted on my Instagram:
