I’m presenting to you a dessert that’s rich in flavor, steeped in tradition, and surprisingly easy to make at home, Tiramisu. This iconic Italian dessert originated in the Veneto region of Italy, and its name literally translates to “pick me up,” a nod to the energizing combination of coffee and cocoa. Traditionally made with espresso-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone, and cocoa, tiramisu has become a beloved classic around the world, with nearly every restaurant offering its own version, some better than others.

Today, I’m here to share a lighter, simplified twist on this timeless dessert. This Coffee Mousse Italian Tiramisu keeps the spirit of the original while making it quicker, easier, and perfect for feeding a crowd. It’s creamy, indulgent, and ideal for entertaining—without requiring complicated techniques or hours in the kitchen. Prepare this once, and for months to come, you’ll be known as the one who brings that dessert to the party.

Prep Time

2 hours 10 minutes (includes refrigeration time)

Ingredients

16 ounces mascarpone cheese

2 cups heavy cream

1/4 cup chocolate mousse mix

2 tablespoons coffee

4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons hot water

2 tablespoons rum

36 lady fingers

Preparation

Using an electric hand mixer, combine the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, coffee, and chocolate mousse mix. Whip until stiff peaks form. Refrigerate while preparing the remaining components.

In a small bowl, stir together the sugar and hot water until the sugar is fully dissolved. Add the rum and mix well.

Line the bottom of an 8 x 8-inch baking dish with a single layer of ladyfingers. Generously brush the ladyfingers with the rum syrup.

Spread half of the coffee mousse mixture evenly over the soaked ladyfingers.

Repeat with a second layer of ladyfingers, rum syrup, and the remaining coffee mousse mixture.

If desired, lightly dust the top with cocoa powder for a classic finish.

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best texture and flavor.
