Dear Michelle Valentine,

I’ve been having an on-again, off-again relationship with this gorgeous guy, a musician.

We bicker constantly (which usually turns into a fight), and we basically don’t have the same ideas of what a relationship should be.

He is not supportive of listening to my career concerns, and he doesn’t hold a strong interest in my family.

We have just broken up (again), and I’m wondering if I should go back with him.

It’s always the same: we fight, we break up, he calls me, he comes over; and we’re back to square one.

What do you think is going on with me?

Becky, via email

Dear Becky,

If you are with someone who you have put on a pedestal, you need to pay extremely close attention to how you really feel when you are with him.
