Dear Michelle Valentine,
I’ve been having an on-again, off-again relationship with this gorgeous guy, a musician.
We bicker constantly (which usually turns into a fight), and we basically don’t have the same ideas of what a relationship should be.
He is not supportive of listening to my career concerns, and he doesn’t hold a strong interest in my family.
We have just broken up (again), and I’m wondering if I should go back with him.
It’s always the same: we fight, we break up, he calls me, he comes over; and we’re back to square one.
What do you think is going on with me?
Becky, via email
If you are with someone who you have put on a pedestal, you need to pay extremely close attention to how you really feel when you are with him.
Strong feelings of infatuation (or lust) can cloud your judgment of a “gorgeous guy, a musician”.
A lot of people cannot resist that “magic feeling”; you feel it, and then you’re off and running.
When you experience chemistry with someone, you connect right away, and before you know it, you’re in a relationship.
Look at this “relationship” and truly see if you find any compatibility.
If not, it’s time to move on!
Ask yourself this question: “Do I feel nurtured in this relationship?”
If your answer is no, you’ve also answered the question of whether you should stay in the relationship.
Have you dated a man and didn’t know where the relationship was going?
Please comment and tell us all about it! love to hear!
