This Slow Cooker Apple Crisp is the kind of dessert that melts hearts and warms bellies with every bite. Apple-based desserts have long been a symbol of comfort, especially in cooler months, with crisps and crumbles tracing their roots back to Europe. These simple, rustic desserts became especially popular because they used pantry staples and seasonal fruit making them both practical and deeply comforting.

This recipe adds a fun twist by using Dutch-inspired snickerdoodles, a chewy, spiced cookie inspired by the flavors of the traditional Dutch stroopwafel. Stroopwafels, which date back to the Netherlands in the early 1800s, are known for their warm spices and caramel notes, flavors that pair beautifully with tender baked apples. Incorporating those spiced cookie crumbs into a crisp topping adds richness, texture, and a unique depth of flavor.

Even better, this dessert is made entirely in the slow cooker, making it wonderfully hands-off. As it cooks low and slow, the apples soften, the spices bloom, and the kitchen fills with the irresistible aroma of fall. Whether served warm on its own or topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, this Slow Cooker Apple Crisp is a cozy, crowd-pleasing dessert that feels like a hug in a bowl.
