History of the Natural Bridge in Santa Cruz, Aruba

The uncanny wonderfulness made by nature always attracts people’s admiration, and Aruba’s Natural Bridge is admired by all!

The Formation of the Bridge

In Aruba, there is an elapsed stone bridge that was naturally formed out of coral limestone.

When the lower part of the cliff’s soft rock gradually eroded by the sea for hundreds – or maybe thousands of years – the underside was cut, and Aruba’s Natural Bridge was formed.

Natural bridges are usually formed in places that are susceptible to erosion by seawater, rivers, or weathering.

My sister stands near Natural Bridge’s remains. Many people would like to see nature’s work, although it’s gone. 

The Size of the Bridge

Located on the northern coast of Aruba, between the Bushiribana Gold Mine Ruins and Andicuri Beach, the Natural Bridge is about 23-feet high and 100-feet long.

The Passing of History

However, the Natural Bridge, which had seen the island’s change over the centuries, has suffered a lot.

The bridge collapsed during Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

The broken bridge looks as if to tell people about its tragic experience. 

The remains of Aruba’s Natural Bridge remain a tourist attraction if you visit Aruba, although the bridge is no longer there.

It is admired as being born by nature’s uncanny work but also was destroyed by nature’s force.

The Baby Bridge is nearby, which is also made by nature.

Tips for Visiting Aruba’s Natural Bridge

• Bring your passport.
• To get a free visa stamp for 30 days on arrival, bring your passport.
• Aruba has an average temperature of around 86 F throughout the year. Thus, it’s usually not necessary to bring heavy clothes. But considering the wind on the island, you should take your jacket.
• If you go to Aruba in the rainy fall or winter, consider bringing an umbrella.
• Bring your U.S. dollars, as they can be used on the island.
