Dear Michelle Valentine,
I always buy sappy cards for my girlfriend to tell her how much I love her, and lately it seems that I can’t find any that are printed how I truly feel for her.
I’ve thought about writing her a “love letter”, to use my own words to tell her exactly how I feel, but I don’t even know where to begin!
P.S. Do you really think she would like to get a “love letter” from me?

Dear Marty,
By all means write that love letter expressing your true feelings for her!
Certainly she cherishes the cards you give her, but expressing your amour to her in a love letter will mean more to her than anything you can buy at a card boutique.
This will be a priceless keepsake, needing to stand the test of time.
Writing Tips:
So be sure to write on the most beautiful, exquisite stationary paper you can find.
Buy extra sheets of paper, and one extra envelope, too.
After you have found a quiet location to write your love letter, follow these 7 points:
- Write out the date in full; no abbreviations. “February 14, 1998”
- An extremely romantic salutation. “My Dearest Darling Juliet”

- The first paragraph should be a declaration of your love for her, and why you are writing this letter to her.
- The second paragraph should be an amorous analogy. Compare your feelings to her to say how “the sunshine brightens my day, but you even more so than the sun.”
- Next, list in lines all the little things that you love about her: “I love the way you twitch your nose when you’re nervous”; “I love when you bake me cookies with those chocolate dinosaur sprinkles”.
- The last paragraph should state that your love for her will last forever, adding how she is your “soulmate”.
- Closing salutation. Extremely romantic, and your full name. “Forever and Always Yours, “Martin Patrick Smith.”
Have fun, and remember it doesn’t need to be perfect… it’s the thought that counts!
