I had a Personals ad in the newspaper asking for similar qualities that a certain tenant in my apartment complex.

I had been looking at him basically from afar for a long time.

I met him by our complex pool and we got along famously, but nothing ever materialized for some reason.

Eventually, I noticed an ad under “Men Seeking Women” which sounded so much like him and about what he had told me he looked for in a woman.

I had a sense it was him, and when I ran into him at the mailboxes I asked him if the ad was his, and he said yes!

And we both laughed when I told him about my ad!

Now, at least I’ve received a few phone calls from him! And, at least it’s a start! Thanks!

What an exciting scenario! I’m trying to remember the words to that famous love song where the woman responds to a man’s ad by writing her own ad.

It’s called “Escape (The Pina Colada Song)”, by Rupert Holmes, and I believe it goes like this:

If you like pina coladas

And getting caught in the rain

If you’re not into health food…

You’re the love that I’ve looked for

Write to me and escape…

So Karen, you see finding just the right person is easier than you think.

He could be someone you already are familiar with, and close to home!

We’ve all had good and bad experiences in our lives. We all have gifts to share… especially the gift of knowledge. My hope is that this week’s advice column empowers you to take (or continue on) the wonderful journeys life has to offer!
