“Michelle Valentine” is a trademarked name—but not my legal last name. I proudly come from a Polish family, with a last name most people can’t pronounce or spell!
The name “Michelle Valentine” was born when I became an advice columnist in the late 1990s. Inspired by Dear Abby and Ann Landers—and my lifelong love of collecting hearts—I created the column Dear Michelle Valentine. It quickly gained recognition in both newspapers and magazines, with over 200 published columns. You can still read many of them here on my website.
The popularity of the column led to a natural next step: television. I created and co-produced 7 seasons of The Michelle Valentine Show, which originally aired on Time Warner and still airs on select stations today.
